Korean quotation and transaction statement maker

Fill in a Korean quotation or transaction statement for free. Enter the items, quantities and prices; the supply value, VAT, total and the amount in Korean words are worked out as you type, with no spreadsheet formulas needed. Save a Korean A4 form as a PDF, or download a CSV for Excel that holds the worked-out amounts, not formulas.

How to use it

  1. Choose “Quotation” or “Transaction statement”, then fill in the date, your details and the buyer's.
  2. Choose how VAT is handled: “Added on top”, “Included in prices” or “Exempt”.
  3. Enter each item's name, quantity and unit price; the totals and the amount in Korean words update as you type. Press “+ Add item” for more rows.
  4. Press “Save as PDF”: a print window opens, choose “Save as PDF” as the printer and save (the form is in Korean). For Excel, press “Download CSV”.

If something goes wrong

  • If it will not save and fields turn red, an item has no name or its quantity or unit price is not a number. Fix those fields and press again.
  • A note under the business registration number that the check digit does not match does not stop saving; the number prints as typed, so check it once more.

How the form is worked outHow this works

What you type stays on your device

The totals, the printed form and the CSV are all made by this page inside your browser. There is no upload step and no server route for this tool. The only thing the site records is that the tool was used — the tool's name, nothing you typed.

“Remember my details” is off until you tick it. When ticked, only the supplier block (your business name, representative, registration number, address and phone) is kept in this browser's local storage, so it is filled in next time. Untick it and the saved copy is deleted. The buyer, the items and the notes are never kept.

How VAT is handled

Korean VAT is 10%. Choose one of three settings. Added on top: quantity × unit price is the supply value, and the tax is 10% of it. Included in prices: quantity × unit price is a price that already contains VAT, so the supply value is that amount ÷ 1.1, rounded to the won, and the tax is the rest — the two parts always add back to the amount you entered. Exempt: no tax is added.

The setting applies to every row of the form. If one document needs both taxed and exempt items, make two documents.

Rounding, stated plainly

Each row is rounded to whole won, half up (0.5 won and above goes up). Each row's tax is worked out from that row and rounded the same way. The totals are the sums of the rows, so the printed rows always add up to the printed totals.

This means the tax total can differ by a few won from 10% of the supply total. Three rows of 1,005 won each have 101 won of tax per row, 303 won in all, where 10% of the 3,015 won total would be 302 won. Some companies and accounting programs round differently, so if a counterparty works the tax from the total, check the figure with them. Quantities and prices can have up to four decimal places and are multiplied exactly, without the small errors of computer floating-point arithmetic.

A document helper, not a tax invoice

In Korea a quotation is called 견적서 and a transaction statement 거래명세서. Both set out what is offered or delivered, and neither is a tax invoice. A Korean tax invoice is issued separately, through the National Tax Service's Hometax or an e-invoicing service, and this tool does not issue or file anything.

The business registration number is checked for its 10-digit format and its last check digit only. A number that fails is flagged, not blocked. The tool does not look up whether the number is registered or still trading; Hometax has a lookup for that. On the printed A4 form, field names stay in Korean, and the total is also written out in Korean words, with the word for one before every unit, the way Korean forms spell out amounts. The CSV is UTF-8 with a byte-order mark so Excel shows Korean correctly, and a text cell that starts with =, +, - or @ gets an apostrophe in front so Excel keeps it as text.

Quick questions

Can this be used as a Korean tax invoice?

No. A quotation or transaction statement sets out what is offered or delivered; it is not a tax invoice. A Korean tax invoice is issued separately through Hometax or an e-invoicing service. This tool does not issue or file anything.

How is a VAT-included price split into supply value and tax?

With “Included in prices”, quantity × unit price is treated as the price with 10% VAT in it. The supply value is that amount ÷ 1.1, rounded to the won, and the tax is the rest, so the two always add back to the amount entered. Each row is rounded on its own and the totals are the sums of the rows.

Is what I type sent or saved anywhere?

Nothing you type is sent; the form, the PDF and the CSV are made in your browser. Only if you tick “Remember my details” is the supplier block kept, in this browser alone, and unticking deletes it. The buyer, items and notes are never kept.
