Quick questions

Is there a required format for a quote or estimate?

No federal law sets one; businesses use their own. This page prints the quote number, date and validity, the customer, the items, the subtotal, sales tax and total, your notes, and a line for the customer to accept.

What sales tax rate should I put on a quote?

Sales tax is set by states and local areas, so no rate is built in. Type the rate that applies, and tick any lines that are not taxed.

How is sales tax rounded on the quote?

Each line (quantity × unit price) is rounded half up to the cent, and the tax is worked out once on the taxed subtotal, also half up. The totals are the sums of what prints.

Can I save a quote as a PDF or CSV?

Yes. In the print window, choose “Save as PDF” as the printer, or export the quote as a CSV.
