Fonts are replaced with the ones on your device, so line breaks and spacing can differ slightly from the original. Text, tables and pictures are kept.

How the conversion worksHow this works

Your file stays on your device

The first time you choose a file, this page fetches its converter from this same site — about 12 MB, once per visit. From then on the file is read and every page is drawn inside your browser. The file itself is never sent anywhere.

You can check this. Once the converter has arrived, switch off Wi‑Fi or mobile data and open another file: it still works. The line under the result counts the network requests made while your file was being opened.

What comes across, and what changes

Text, tables, merged cells, lines and pictures are drawn page by page, at the paper size set in the file, so a landscape page stays landscape in the PDF.

Fonts are the one thing that changes. A Hangul file names fonts that only the Hangul program installs, so the page uses the closest fonts already on your device. Line breaks and spacing can therefore differ slightly from the original, and a crowded text box can overlap its neighbour.

Saving the PDF

The Save as PDF button opens your browser's print window with only the document's pages in it, and the file's name filled in as the title. Choose “Save as PDF” as the printer and save. Nothing is printed on paper unless you pick a real printer.

On Android, Chrome's print window has the same “Save as PDF” choice. On an iPhone, open the share button in the print screen and choose “Save to Files”.

Files it cannot open

A password-protected file asks for its password, and a wrong password is named rather than guessed at. Files locked by a company security program (DRM) cannot be opened here; they open only inside that company's own system.

The page takes .hwp and .hwpx files. Other formats, damaged files and files with no pages are named and not converted. Nothing is kept after you close the page.

Quick questions

Can I open an HWP file without the Hangul program?

Yes. Choose the .hwp or .hwpx file on this page and every page is shown in your browser, with a button to save it as a PDF. Nothing needs to be installed. Fonts become the ones on your device, so spacing can differ slightly from the original.

Is my file uploaded?

No. The page fetches its converter (about 12 MB) from this site the first time, then opens your file inside your browser. The file is not sent anywhere. The line under the result counts the network requests made while the file was being opened.

Does it work on a phone?

Yes. Open the file the same way, then press Save as PDF. On Android choose “Save as PDF” in the print window; on an iPhone use the share button in the print screen and choose “Save to Files”.
