A caution

Ghost

What it means

A ghost often points to unresolved feelings, fear, or a memory that lingers. In tradition it can be read as a message from ancestors. Facing the ghost calmly, or it fading, suggests you are ready to release what has been haunting you.

It depends how it appeared

The same symbol is read differently depending on what happened in the dream.

It was someone you knew who has died
The older tradition did not read this as a haunting but as a visit — a message from the ancestors, and something to listen to rather than fear.
It said something to you
Read as the part worth remembering. What was said mattered more than what it looked like, and people were told to write it down on waking.
You faced it calmly, or it went away
The good form. Read as being ready to put down something that had been holding on.
You were held down and could not move
Read as the body being tired rather than as an omen. Older advice was about rest and the sleeping place, not about spirits.
It followed you, or you ran
The caution. Read the same way as being chased — something not faced yet, and the running is the part being pointed at.
