What this comparison calculates
What is being compared
Both charts are built from a birth date alone: the year, month and day pillars, with no hour pillar. No birth time is on public record for any of the artists here, and giving one side a fourth pillar would put the two element balances on different footings without saying so.
The element balance counts each visible character in a pillar as 2 and each stem hidden inside a branch as 1, adds them up and turns the totals into percentages, so the five always sum to 100. It is the same arithmetic as every other chart on this site.
The artist's five numbers are calculated once and frozen in the source. A test recomputes them from the birth date on every build, so a change to the calendar rules breaks the build instead of quietly leaving a wrong chart on a public page.
Where the two lines are drawn
Five elements share 100 points, so an even chart puts 20 in each. This page calls an element strong at 25 or more, and thin at 12 or less. Everything between those is left alone.
Those two numbers were chosen, not derived. A narrower band would separate a 19 from a 21 — a gap a birth time could have reversed — and tell the reader something the calculation does not actually know.
Strong on both sides is reported as shared. Thin on one side and strong on the other is reported as one filling what the other is short of. Nothing else is reported at all.
How the two Day Masters are named
The Day Master is the heavenly stem of the day of birth, and which of the five elements it belongs to is what names the pair. In the classical cycle any two elements either generate one another, control one another, or are the same element.
Generating runs wood to fire, fire to earth, earth to metal, metal to water, water back to wood. Controlling runs wood over earth, earth over water, water over fire, fire over metal, metal over wood. The sentence on the page is that cycle read aloud.
These are the names of relations between elements, not good news or bad news. Controlling does not mean a difficult pair, and generating does not mean a good one.
What this page does not do
It does not score. There is no percentage, no ranking and no verdict, because attaching a number to a named living person turns a calculation into a claim about them.
It does not read a relationship. Nothing here is written about love, character or the future, and what is shown would be identical for anyone born on the same day.
